Our Superhero Origin Story
Embrace Your Superpowers came from the approach I took to help my son while he was in crisis. He came to me one day in tears, rattling off all the things wrong with him, calling himself broken. He begged me to take him out of school.
I found myself comforting him by reframing each perceived weakness as an asset, using references to the superheroes we both loved.
I reassured him, “You’re not broken. You’re an X-Man, and you have mutant superpowers! Let’s figure out how to harness them. I will do my best to be your Professor X.”
And we’ve never looked back…
Empowering People, Crushing Stigma
The Embrace Your Superpowers program has its roots in a heartbroken mom trying to help her 7-year-old son when he felt defeated, othered, and alone.
I gave him the toolkit and perspective that empowered him to succeed and thrive while waiting nearly a decade for his diagnosis.
This program went from our living room to daycares and classrooms into corporate workshops and boardrooms, clinical practices, and keynotes at national and international conferences.

Why Superheroes?
Superheroes’ lives aren’t easy.
They often struggle to manage or hide their powers at first. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Superheroes provide familiar and empowering opportunities to reframe how we see ourselves. We don’t have to hide who we are either.
Their teamwork, training, and their familiarity give us stories, characters that inspire us on good days and bad.
I am already seeing a therapist/doctor for my diagnosis, will this conflict with my current treatment?
Absolutely not!
The difference is that I come at this from an insiders’ perspective. I know what it’s like to have tools given to you like a homework assignment, and what it feels like if you find yourself discouraged when you try and falter.
My empowering and engaging format helps you better integrate these scientifically proven tools and maximize results.

Does this program get really clinical or medical with terms and tools?
I know how overwhelming that kind of language can feel, and how it can even cause us to shut down.
That’s why my unique Neuro-PopTM perspective works!
I translate and adapt the best tools to the world of Superheroes – that’s how I got great tools to my son and started this program – because no 7-year-old wants to hear about cognitive behavioural therapy, anxiety reappraisal, or mindfulness.
That’s mom and doctor talk!
But a Spider-Man activity that feels like a game and makes him feel like one of his favourite heroes – that’s something he can make his own and use daily!

I live with mental health and neurodiversity diagnoses and I have also been trained to support people like me.
I know what stigma feels like and the kinds of thoughts that we live with. Sometimes our biggest battles happen in our own heads.
My perspective recognizes that both recovery and mastery come with steps forward and backward – and that we can be kind to ourselves every step of the way.
How much time do I have to invest to get results?
We are all different and so is our situation.
I’ll be honest – some days and tasks will be harder than others – but you already know that’s the reality of living with mental health and neurodiversity conditions.
